About us

The Kinsmen Club of Oakville
Our parent organization is Kin Canada An organization in growth mode! Kinsmen, Kinette and Kin Clubs operate only in Canada. Founded in 1920 by Hal Rogers, in Hamilton, Ontario. Famous for our World War II program “Milk for Britain” and in 2011 for the Portraits of Honour tour of Canada. Look around your local community and you will likely find buildings, parks and events sponsored by Kinsmen (Kinoak Arena, Kinsmen Pine Room – Oakville Arena). The Kin Canada charity of choice is Cystic Fibrosis Canada. We are proud to say that as of 2012, donations to that cause exceed $40,000,000. Across Canada Kinsmen have donated over 1 billion dollars in total in support of many charities in the 97 years it has existed.

Founded in 1955 as the Kinsmen Club of Oakville as a service club it is now its 63rd year of activity. Some of the popular community activities we support are: The Oakville Hospital, Lighthouse for Bereaving Children, Food for Kids. For many decades our club has supported the annual Santa Claus Parade and Food Drive. You will see our members pushing shopping carts and carrying donation buckets at the front and back of the parade. Profits from our fundraising events are distributed to organizations and charities that have a presence in the Region of Halton.

With 10 dinner meetings on the 1st Wednesday of the month from September to June and alternate fun nights there is a lot of friendship and little actual business.
